They Deserved Better is a collection of songs that have always been popular with audiences. I looked back at the recordings I had previously released and thought, they deserved better. Some of the songs date back 30 years like Walk Tonight and Stranded in Chicago. Songs like Walking Ain’t Easy, Little by Little, Up on My Feet, and Catnipped are all from a CD that I released 10 years ago. I recorded them while in recovery from a spinal cord injury. Peanut Butter Cookie, Angel on a Train and Awakened to the Rain were all written for bands. I looked back and thought “How would I do these songs today?”. This began a new project in my little studio. I wrote one new song for this collection, Tell The Whole Story. A song reflecting on our need to share our stories good and bad, all of the sorrows and joy and all of our wrongs and rights. The song is about looking back honestly.

The song Walk Tonight had previously been recorded by Hal Walker. Prior to a benefit to help him with some health-related expenses I created a recording of this song to help promote the event for the benefit. I made it available on Jamendo, a streaming service out of Europe. Since January, this song has been one of the top folk songs on that service helping me to gain over 2.2 million listens.
