I purchased a banjo recently and it arrived this week You can see the unboxing here. It is a beautiful instrument. I also received a Reunion Blues Expedition Banjo case to keep it beautiful. Built to my specifications. Itis a beautiful instrument. I am finding a lot of joy in it. Look for it to show up at live performances in the future.
The fall semester of programming for Roots of American Music has been intense. Things are beginning to calm down now, though we just added some new programming. It is remarkable how much musical engagement we are able to put into the community. Everyone involved in the organization is excited about our mission. That makes my job so easy. It is great to see this organization moving forward. It is important work.
On Friday October 23rd, I am speaking at TEDX Cleveland at Cleveland State University. I am very excited about this opportunity. I am beyond honored.
My talk explores the link between song and historical record. learning my script is a little different than learning a song, though with song it is the first line of the verse that triggers the rest of the verse. I am looking at my talk in the same way. Each section has a first line. Once I get started on the section the rest will follow.
Keep moving forward!
