American Spirit (Full Production)

American Spirit (Full Production)

I wrote this song towards the end January as Greatlakes was shipping was forced to shut down for the winter due to ice. This song began as a story about a freighter called the American spirit that was trapped in the lake as it tried to make it's way back to Toledo.

The song gained a new verse and meaning later that week when Ice agents executed Alex Pretti in the streets of Minneapolis.

I have released early simple productions, but thought it would be fun to do a bigger production. The new version includes lyrical changes near the end of the song that reflect on the ships return to Toledo and the leadership changes forced on ICE and homeland security.

The production includes the original arrangement of Vocal, guitar, bass, and mandolin. I have added some keyboards, drums, electric guitar, and the sound of gale force winds coming off of lake Erie that I recorded earlier this week.
